The first full week of July brings us some great Channel Surfing TV picks. The Bosch Universe expands with the spinoff Ballard. The longest running live action comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia returns for a 17th season. Then, you thought he was dead but a serial killer’s story continues with Dexter: Resurrection.
Solving the Past
Detective Reneé Ballard is a hard nosed detective in the LAPD who can ruffle a few feathers. She is assigned to a newly formed Cold Case department where she can do the least trouble. Despite her new department, she won’t let it prevent her from doing good police work.
Ballard and her team of volunteers and reserve officers try to solve old cases, some decades old. As they tackle a serial killer, a John Doe murder and more, they discover a conspiracy within the entire LAPD.
Stream the entire first season of Ballard beginning Wednesday, July 9, on Prime Video.
Double the Crossovers
The gang is back for its 17th season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. As usual, they will be bringing the chaotic energy and insanity that you’re accustomed to such as Dee running a power slap league in the bar.
Maybe some of the biggest highlights of the new season are the crossovers with other popular shows. It includes the Abbot Elementary cross over where we experience things from the gang’s perspective. Also, Frank becomes the Golden Bachelor and he his eyes on some of the eligible ladies.
The two episode season 17 premiere of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia air Wednesday, July 9, on FXX.
A Collection of Serial Killers
The end of Dexter: New Blood saw the titular character sacrifice himself in order to set his son free. However, he survived his gunshot and is now on a mission to set things right with Harrison in Dexter Resurrection.
Dexter’s search leads him to New York City, where he meets a mysterious man keen on assembling the best serial killers. As father and son wrestle with their own inner darkness, they might have to rely on each other in order to overcome their issues.
The first two episodes of Dexter: Resurrection release Friday, July 11, on Paramount+, and air linearly on Sunday, July 13, on Showtime.
