Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Hasbro, have unveiled a first look at Transformers #23, including interior art and a stacked lineup of variant covers. The next chapter in the hit Energon Universe series lands in comic shops on August 13, 2025. Don’t miss our review of Transformers #22, which has been excellent!
Written by two-time Eisner Award winner Daniel Warren Johnson (Do a Powerbomb), with art by Jorge Corona (Middlewest), colors by Mike Spicer (Murder Falcon), and letters by Rus Wooton, this issue promises major developments in the ongoing Autobot-Decepticon war.
Titled “Enter the Matrix,” the issue centers on the Autobots’ desperate attempt to tap into the Matrix of Leadership—their last chance to turn the tide before the Decepticons claim victory.
In addition to the main cover by Johnson and Spicer, TRANSFORMERS #23 features:
-
Cover B by Jorge Corona & Mike Spicer (open order)
-
1:10 connecting cover variant by David Nakayama
-
1:25 incentive variant by Doug Mahnke & David Baron
-
1:50 incentive variant by Pye Parr
Part of the larger Energon Universe, TRANSFORMERS is the flagship series in a bold, interconnected storytelling world that includes Void Rivals (by Robert Kirkman and Conor Hughes) and G.I. JOE (by Joshua Williamson and Andrea Milana). Each issue continues to unlock deeper lore and massive twists for fans of both franchises.
TRANSFORMERS #23 will be available for $3.99 at comic book shops and digitally via Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play on August 13.
