#5: Predator Kills the Marvel Universe #1

‘Predator Kills the Marvel Universe’ #1 is a savage start with a high body count

Predator Kills the Marvel Universe #1 is a brutal, thrilling opening chapter that spares no one, blending blockbuster-level spectacle with smart connections to the Marvel Universe. Benjamin Percy swings for the fences, and with Marcelo Ferreira’s art pushing the gore and tension to the limit, this debut promises a savage, unforgettable ride.

#4: Captain Planet and the Planeteers #3

‘Captain Planet and the Planeteers’ #3 assembles a team against impossible odds

This issue is a fun and engaging tale of the power of teamwork and friendship triumphing over evil, as we see the Planeteers successfully defeat Duke Nukem without the help of Captain Planet. We also get a cliffhanger ending where one of the Planeteers is presented with an offer that could lead to betrayal of the team and their mission if accepted. It’s an ending that leaves readers waiting in anticipation for the next issue. Overall, Captain Planet and the Planeteers #3 is a smartly written issue with clever plotting, tight pacing, and stimulating artwork that keeps the reader engaged and drives the plot forward. With this creative team at the helm, Captain Planet is off to a riveting and promising start.

#3: Bug Wars #6

‘Bug Wars’ #6 ends on a bittersweet note with hints of future stories to come

Bug Wars #6 delivers a bloody, poignant end to the first act of a story, while hinting at more to come. Aaron and Asrar have created something truly special here, and I urge readers to check it out. If you’re a fan of what Aaron’s done with Thor, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or Absolute Superman, you need to pick this comic up. If you love fantasy, you need to see the world that Asrar’s brought to life. If you’re looking for a title that will truly shake up your pull list, this definitely should be on your radar.

#2: Supergirl #4

‘Supergirl’ #4 perfectly captures the Girl of Steel’s heart

All in all, Supergirl #4 continues to be a fun comic to read. Not only does Campbell understand the character she’s working with and the rich history that accompanies her, but she loves and embraces everything Kara is about. Likewise, despite issue #4 building on the plot threads Campbell has established since the comic’s launch, it also reads well as a standalone issue. This keeps the comic new reader-friendly in a way that entices readers to pick up both previous issues, and upcoming ones.

#1: Transformers #23

‘Transformers’ #23 is a masterstroke of hope

Transformers #23 is my favorite issue in the entire run. I am not objective about this; it’s fully speaking to a deeply personal and resonate emotion that I feel about my own life, and not something everybody will understand to that degree. It’s a heartstring so rawly tugged that I am incapable of doing my impartial job as a critic here. It’s simply wonderful. Please read it for yourself – this is a story that reminds us why this character means so much to us all, why we love him, and why it’s always best to be kind, never complacent.
