Skybound drops ‘Void Rivals’ #23 preview

This installment features a fan-favorite debut: Wheelie, the rhyming Autobot, who finally enters the Energon Universe—and immediately finds himself crossing paths with Cobra-La’s Pythona.

Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Hasbro, have revealed the interior pages and full lineup of variant covers for Void Rivals #23. The issue comes from the powerhouse creative team of Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead), Conor Hughes (White Ash), colorist Patricio Delpeche (Nightmare Country), and letterer Rus Wooton (Fire Power). The latest chapter of the hit sci-fi saga arrives in comic shops on September 24, 2025.

This installment features a fan-favorite debut: Wheelie, the rhyming Autobot, who finally enters the Energon Universe—and immediately finds himself crossing paths with Cobra-La’s Pythona.

Every issue of Void Rivals continues to peel back the layers of the expanding Energon Universe, with appearances from beloved Transformers heroes and villains, allies and enemies, and a few shocking surprises.

Issue #23 will ship with a main cover by Lorenzo De Felici and a wide selection of variants, including:

  • An open-to-order Cover B by Conor Hughes

  • The next entry in the 1:10 connecting cover series from Martín Morazzo and Patricio Delpeche

  • A 1:25 incentive cover by Andrea De Dominicis

  • A 1:50 incentive cover by John Amor

This fall also sets the stage for the book’s biggest arc yet—The Quintesson War. Beginning in Void Rivals #25 this December, the story will see Kirkman teaming up with new series artist Andrei Bressan (Destro, Uncanny X-Men). Together they’ll deliver an Energon Universe event that promises to shake the Sacred Ring to its core.

As one of the pillars of the Energon Universe, Void Rivals anchors the ambitious collaboration between Hasbro and Skybound that has united Transformers and G.I. Joe into a shared comic book world. Other ongoing series include the Eisner Award-winning Transformers by Daniel Warren Johnson and Jorge Corona, and G.I. Joe by Joshua Williamson and Andrea Milana. Each title continues to build toward game-changing revelations while redefining some of comics’ most iconic franchises.
