Thundercats comics head into the future in 2026 with shocking revelations in ‘Lost in Time’

Joining Ligon, Lynx-O, Neko, and Pumyra is a mysterious defector who may hold the key to survival. The group must not only navigate this broken future, but also uncover how to stop it from becoming reality.

The ThunderCats saga is about to take a dramatic leap forward this January with the release of ThunderCats: Lost in Time, a new special from writer Ed Brisson (New Mutants, Predator) and artist Chris Campana, published by Dynamite Entertainment in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products.

Following his work on ThunderCats Lost, SilverHawks, and specials spotlighting Apex, Pumyra, Panthro, and the upcoming holiday issue, Brisson is set to push the franchise into uncharted territory. This time, the team is hurled into the far future — landing on Sixth Earth, a fractured, dystopian world stitched together from the ruins of Third Earth. Here, a brutal police state has outlawed and hunted ThunderCats into near-extinction, while ominous automatons and mass surveillance dominate what remains.

“I’ve been looking forward to writing this issue for a long, long time,” said Brisson. “Things revealed in this one-shot will send shockwaves through the entire ThunderCats comics universe. I cannot overstate how much of a ripple effect this book is going to have. The team is going to learn things about their own history that will force them to reconcile with their own history, while also being forced to make one of the hardest decisions that any of them have had to face — it’s about personal sacrifice for the greater good.”

Artist Chris Campana, known for his work on G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Red Sonja, and Vampirella, joins Brisson to set the stage for major developments across the line in 2026.

Adding to the excitement, the book will be available exclusively as a mystery blind bag release in comic shops. Fans will have a chance to pull one of four covers by Declan Shalvey, Enid Balam, Alessandro Ranaldi, and Cat Staggs, with rarer variants such as virgin and line art editions hidden in the mix.
