Green Lantern #29 review

It’s always a rough time for the bad guys when the boys in Green team up.

The march to issue #600 is leading to a fun run of “buddy cop” team-ups, leading to an interesting…proposal? Not sure what I am talking about? Then check out our Full February 2026 DC Comics solicitations for the scoop on Green Lantern #32, aka Legacy #599, and that cover that leads us to a potential ring exchange. Jeremy Adams has done some incredible things with Green Lantern, definitely the best of times with the relationship between Hal Jordan and Carol Ferris, so could the next step happen? Are all these team-ups a way for Hal to assemble his groomsmen? How does this latest installment in the Green Lantern/Green Arrow teams land?

Green Lantern #29

DC

Luckily for us readers, Jeremy Adams and colorist Romulo Fajardo Jr. welcome artist Carmine Di Giandomenico to the Creative Corps for this series. Di Giandomenico brings in a different style, but it sits nicely with the house style this series has established. I would say that factor comes from Fajardo Jr.’s consistent colors. Di Giandomenico keeps the “rugged but hip-energy” Hal Jordan that has been present in the series. This Hal is an excellent counter to Green Arrow’s darker, mysterious vibe, and the best part about this team-up is that they complement each other instead of bashing each other. For once, the two seem to be past “one-upping” each other out of spite and do it more so in fun.

Jeremy Adams also finds a great foil to make this team-up happen by having the Justice League want to send Star Sapphire, but Hal Jordan takes the mission instead. While it seemed like an easy way to get the two heroes back together, Adams gives that mission some weight by tying it into Darkseid and the DC All In Special. I appreciate how Adams keeps this series going while also staying up to date with the greater DC Universe and playing along; it helps keep the series relevant to what is happening across the whole. It’ll be interesting to see if this new Omega Construction and X-Tingency appear anywhere else; honestly, it makes me want to check in on Aquaman since Adams is writing that series, too.

Green Lantern #29

DC

Altogether, when I first read the solicitation for this issue, it felt like filler, but the stories since then and the path this book is on give it a firmer place in reading and keeping up with Green Lantern and Hal Jordan. I have always preferred it when Barry and Hal team up, but this issue of Hal and Ollie teaming has to be my favorite of theirs. Jeremy Adams has brought such maturity and youth to Hal Jordan while also making Hal’s place in the DC Universe fun and well-connected. After this issue, I am looking forward to the next Green Lantern/Batman team-up, along with major hype for a Barry appearance afterward.

Green Lantern and Green Arrow tackle a Star City mission with unexpected Darkseid connections, showcasing sharp banter, strong continuity, and a smooth artistic transition with Carmine Di Giandomenico joining the team. A sharp, charming team-up issue that adds fuel to the road toward #600.

Strong, fun Hal/Ollie chemistry without forced rivalry. Their friendship actually felt like one for once.
Great character work by Adams throughout the series, as Hal is experienced and confident yet youthful.
Carmine Di Giandomenico’s art meshes well with the established aesthetic.
New elements like Omega Construction and X-Tingency are intriguing but still lightly sketched.
