Marvel’s massive new event ARMAGEDDON won’t officially explode until this summer, but the road to destruction has already begun unfolding across current titles. Today, Marvel revealed two major chapters arriving in March: WOLVERINE: WEAPONS OF ARMAGEDDON #2 and CAPTAIN AMERICA #8.
The event is spearheaded by writer Chip Zdarsky, who’s been planting crucial pieces inside his ongoing Captain America series with artists Valerio Schiti, Delio Diaz, and Frank Alpizar. Zdarsky is also teaming with Luca Maresca for Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, a four-issue prelude spinning out of the newest developments in Captain America and Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion.
In WOLVERINE: WEAPONS OF ARMAGEDDON #2, the lead-up intensifies. Long-buried secrets tying together Wolverine, Nuke, and newcomer Dave Colton finally erupt, sending Logan’s pursuit of a vanished Super-Soldier into chaos. With the darkest corners of his past now weaponized against him, the question becomes: can Wolverine survive a war he helped create?
Over in CAPTAIN AMERICA #8, Steve Rogers joins forces with the LATVERIAN LIBERATORS in an effort to stop the ruthless insurgent SALVATION and his militant TRUE LATVERIA faction. Salvation is ready for a fight, and Cap’s own allies may not see eye-to-eye with his mission. As loyalties shift, Steve must decide how far he’ll go to free Latveria from Salvation’s rule.
The timing also aligns with February’s relaunch of Captain America, where issue #6 kicks off the debut of the ALL-NEW S.H.I.E.L.D. To help readers catch up, Marvel is rolling out fresh printings of the first five issues next month.
Fans can get an early look at the main covers for both March releases, plus a Captain America #8 variant from Stormbreaker artist Netho Diaz. Preorders are now open — and with more ARMAGEDDON teases on the horizon, there’s plenty still to come.
