Zac Thompson and Hayden Sherman on why the ‘Into the Unbeing’ Library Edition is the definitive journey

Zac Thompson and Hayden Sherman call the ‘Into the Unbeing’ Library Edition the definitive way to experience their sprawling, jaw-dropping eco-horror epic.

Dark Horse Comics is giving readers the definitive way to descend into cosmic horror with the exclusive cover reveal of Into the Unbeing: Library Edition, a deluxe hardcover collecting Zac Thompson and Hayden Sherman’s entire eco-horror epic into one massive volume.

Slated to arrive September 15, 2026, the Into the Unbeing Library Edition HC gathers the complete saga of four climate scientists lost inside a colossal eldritch corpse—an impossible landform discovered in the Australian outback that proves to be anything but inert. Oversized at 8 x 12.1875 inches and clocking in at 224 pages, the $49.99 hardcover is designed to showcase Sherman’s Eisner-winning artwork at its most immersive, grotesque, and awe-inspiring.

“The entire terrifying journey of four scientists lost within a giant eldritch corpse is collected in this deluxe hardcover graphic novel volume,” Dark Horse teases. “It’s a cosmic body-horror epic.”

Led by botanist Hildur Johansson, the expedition begins as a routine scientific survey before spiraling into obsession, hubris, and dread. What the team uncovers is not terrain, but the Unbeing itself—a sprawling Lovecraftian labyrinth of strange flora, alien fauna, and lurking predators, allowed to evolve untouched by humanity. As centuries of lost lives echo through its innards, the scientists form an uneasy alliance with a mysterious figure known only as the Stranger, a humanoid entity claiming to be a nineteenth-century explorer who knows the way out—and the shape of a terrifying future to come.

Artist Hayden Sherman reflected on the experience of seeing the series collected at last:

“Making INTO THE UNBEING with Zac was a gory/creepy/existential blast from start to finish. And an experience I’ll always treasure. The far reaching themes and horrors allowed for such invention and play in every page as Zac guided our cast through the unspeakable horrors they found around and within them. It’s a joy to at last have this whole story bound together in one large single volume. It’s without doubt the best way to journey into the Unbeing.”

Writer Zac Thompson echoed that sentiment, emphasizing how essential the Library Edition format is to the story’s intent:

“Getting to adventure into the unbeing’s eldritch mass with Hayden was truly a dream come true. Hayden’s work on the series is visionary. With each chapter skirting the line between horror and awe. This is a big and sprawling eco-horror adventure and the Library Edition will be the best way to lose yourself in this completely alien world. And, of course, the best way to appreciate all of Hayden’s jaw-dropping art. We always imagined the series as one sprawling tome. So this is the definitive way to appreciate the visual splendour and repulsive horrors within!”
