Upper Deck casts a spell on collectors with major Harry Potter trading card deal

From gold 1/1 parallels to Fleer Ultra throwbacks, Upper Deck is bringing the wizarding world to trading cards in a way fans have never seen before.

Upper Deck is expanding its footprint in entertainment collectibles with a major new partnership, announcing a licensing deal to produce collectibles based on the beloved Harry Potter franchise. The collaboration between Upper Deck and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products was revealed to media and retailers through a presentation inspired by the wizarding world itself. With this agreement in place, Upper Deck will bring its expertise in premium collectibles to the franchises, giving fans new ways to engage with the world of Harry Potter.

“Harry Potter is easily one of the most sought-after licenses in today’s entertainment landscape. The combination of nostalgia, iconic characters and rich storytelling has sustained its cultural relevance for decades. Adding the Harry Potter franchise to our portfolio is a true testament to the quality and innovation that Upper Deck delivers to its licensors and collectors,” said Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck. “The fandom for the world of Harry Potter is overwhelming, and we’re excited to give this community new ways to enjoy the wizarding world through beautifully crafted collectibles.”

For more than 25 years, Harry Potter has stood as one of the most influential storytelling universes in the world, growing from a best-selling fantasy book series into a global phenomenon that spans blockbuster films and generations of fans. Its enduring popularity is fueled by a passionate international community and timeless themes of friendship, courage, identity, and belonging—resonating just as strongly with longtime readers as with newcomers discovering the magic for the first time.

Upper Deck plans to launch the partnership with a lineup of high-profile releases, starting with Upper Deck Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone 25th Anniversary Trading Cards, a set that celebrates the landmark anniversary of the first film. The collection will feature signature Upper Deck inserts such as UD Debuts with exclusives, high gloss finishes, and Outburst parallels, including a coveted gold 1/1. Following that will be Fleer Ultra Harry Potter, spotlighting classic Fleer Ultra inserts alongside original art trading cards. Fans can expect to see Upper Deck debuts from iconic characters like Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Professor Dumbledore, and Professor Snape. Both sets will be available through Certified Diamond Dealers, mass retailers, and Upper Deck’s e-Pack™ platform.

“Entertainment-based trading cards have always been a priority for Upper Deck, and Harry Potter has been on the radar for a long time,” said Travis Rhea, Director of Entertainment Brands at Upper Deck. “We are excited to bring the license to the trading card and collectibles category. The timing of the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the first movie, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, is perfect to apply the best-in-class Upper Deck brands to the Harry Potter licensed product portfolio.”
