Hot off the success of The Adventures of Ulysses Monarch, Marc Guggenheim is diving back into comics with a bold new sci-fi thriller that blends mystery, memory, and murder. The Emmy Award–winning writer and acclaimed showrunner is teaming with artist Sedat Oezgen for The Whisper War, a five-issue futuristic crime saga debuting February 10, 2026, from Comixology Originals.
Described as a provocative sci-fi murder mystery, The Whisper War pairs Guggenheim’s genre-hopping storytelling with Oezgen’s striking visuals. The series also features colors by Carlos Cabrera, lettering by Dave Sharpe, and design by Travis Escarfullery, bringing the haunting world of the story to life.
Guggenheim explained that this project marks a new creative approach for him.
“This is my first time writing a comic book for a specific artist,” says Guggenheim. “In doing so, I took inspiration from Sedat’s portfolio, leaning into the images and concepts he enjoys drawing the most.”
The story unfolds in the aftermath of a forgotten war. Long ago, civil conflict tore through the Shattered Realm, wiping out a third of the population of the planet Imprimata. No one remembers what the war was about—or even who won. History itself has been erased, surviving only in fragments passed along in whispers.
Now, in the capital city of Apperax, a murder shatters the fragile calm. With no suspects, no forensic evidence, and no clear motive, the case lands in the lap of retired Carabinieri officer Axel Jindari, who is pulled back into service alongside Officer Seeva Dessin. As the investigation deepens, the crime begins to expose long-buried truths—not just about the murder, but about the world itself.
Guggenheim and Oezgen officially invite readers into the fractured future of the Shattered Realm when The Whisper War #1 launches digitally on February 10, 2026, as part of Amazon’s Comixology Originals exclusive digital line.
