Preview: ‘G.I. JOE’ #19 ignites the next phase of the Energon Universe

With secrets finally spilling and alliances about to be tested, ‘G.I. JOE’ #19 looks to be a can’t-miss chapter in the Energon Universe—one that brings two legendary worlds crashing together at last.

Skybound and Image Comics, in collaboration with Hasbro, have revealed new preview pages and the full lineup of variant covers for G.I. JOE #19, kicking off a brand-new arc in the ever-expanding Energon Universe. Arriving in comic shops on February 18, 2026, the issue is brought to life by writer Joshua Williamson (Duke, Cobra Commander), artist Andrea Milana (Cobra Commander), colorist Lee Loughridge (Universal Monsters: The Mummy), and letterer Rus Wooton (Invincible Universe: Battle Beast).

And yes—the secret is officially out: G.I. JOE vs. TRANSFORMERS is happening.

When Duke discovers that Clutch has been hiding the Autobot Hound from the Joes, everything changes. One question looms large—can anyone stop Duke from putting Hound down for good? The fallout sends shockwaves through both franchises as this issue delivers the first major collision between the worlds of Transformers and G.I. Joe in the Energon Universe.

Even bigger, the events of G.I. JOE #19 set the stage for a landmark moment fans have been waiting for: the first-ever Energon Universe meeting between Optimus Prime and Duke in G.I. JOE #20.

Collectors will have plenty to chase as well. In addition to the main cover by Reilly, the issue features:

Open-to-order variants by Joshua Cassara & Romulo Fajardo Jr. and Ben Oliver

  • A 1:25 incentive by Tonči Zonjić
  • A 1:50 incentive by Trevor Hairsine, Andy Lanning & Romulo Fajardo Jr.
  • A 1:100 incentive foil by Pye Parr
  • A special foil mask cover by John Amor & Andres Juarez

As one of the flagship titles of the Energon Universe, G.I. JOE continues to anchor Skybound and Hasbro’s ambitious shared continuity, which has ushered in a bold new era for both the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises. Alongside hits like Void Rivals by Robert Kirkman and Transformers by Kirkman and Dan Mora, this series is driving toward some of the biggest crossover moments in modern comics.

With secrets finally spilling and alliances about to be tested, G.I. JOE #19 looks to be a can’t-miss chapter in the Energon Universe—one that brings two legendary worlds crashing together at last.
