Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 01/19/2026

We have a pair of adaptations and a thriller as part of our Channel Surfing TV picks.

We have a pair of adaptations and a thriller as part of our Channel Surfing TV picks. Looking good has its side effects in The Beauty. Prepare for another wine centric adventure in the second season of Drops of God. Then, a gang pulls off the heist of the century in Steal

The Cure for Ugly

The source material for The Beauty is the comic series from creators Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. On the show, a sexually transmitted virus can turn regular people into supermodels. However, there are dark side effects and FBI agents are sent to investigate. Behind it all is a shady billionaire.

It stars Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, Ashton Kutcher, and Rebecca Hall. The television series is created by Matthew Murphy and Ryan Hodgson. They also serve as executive producers alongside Peters, Ramos, Pope, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Michael Uppendahl, Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Gitter, Peter Schwerin, and Haun. Hurley is a consultant.

The first three episodes of The Beauty release Wednesday, January 21, on FX.

Researching a Legend

Drops of God was originally a manga series written by siblings Yuko and Shin Kibayashi under the pseudonym Tadashi Agi and illustrated by Shu Okimoto. The television adaptation is set to return for another season.

This time around, Camille and Issei are more on the same side rather than competing against each other. That doesn’t mean they won’t butt heads or generate drama. The duo set out to discover the origins of the word’s greatest wine. Their search takes them on a globe trotting adventure as they bring to light lost histories and secrets.

Drops of God season two begins Wednesday, January 21, on Apple TV+.

To Catch a Thief…or Thieves

Sophie Turner went viral last week as the first images of the actress as Lara Croft were revealed from the upcoming Tomb Raider TV series. Unfortunately, it just started production so we’re a long ways away from its release. At least we can catch Turner soon on another Prime Video series entitled Steal

She plays Zara, a regular office worker at a pension fund investment company. One day, a gang of thieves show up and force Zara and her colleague to aid them in stealing several billion pounds. Meanwhile the Detective Chief Inspector assigned to the case must overcome the various agendas and competing interests surrounding the heist.

Stream the entire first season of Steal starting Wednesday, January 21, on Prime Video.
