Deadpool is taking over April Fool’s Day again—and the Marvel Universe might not survive it

DEADPOOL: APRIL POOL’S DAY #1, a one-shot by Gail Simone, C.F. Villa and more, arrives on April 1. Plus, April Pool’s Day Variant Covers spotlighting the Merc with a Mouth’s wild antics hit stands starting on March 25!

April Fool’s Day belongs to Deadpool once again, as Marvel officially brings back April Pool’s Day for another over-the-top celebration. Alongside a flood of surprises—including merchandise, digital goodies, and more—Marvel Comics is delivering the chaos straight to comic shops with a brand-new Deadpool: April Pool’s Day one-shot.

The special issue is written by legendary writer Gail Simone and illustrated by acclaimed artist C.F. Villa, joined by additional fan-favorite creators. Also returning are April Pool’s Day variant covers, with four new pieces from superstar artists Mark Bagley, Chad Hardin, Matteo Lolli, and Phil Noto—each showcasing Wade Wilson doing what he does best: driving the Marvel Universe absolutely nuts.

“IT’S APRIL POOL’S DAY IN THE 616!”

The one-shot leans hard into the absurdity, inviting readers to celebrate April Pool’s Day “the way our ancestors did – with tricks, gags, and potentially universe-ending calamity.” The twist? Wade realizes something is genuinely wrong on April 1st—and no one believes him. The joke, it turns out, may be on everyone else, because if Deadpool is telling the truth, the Marvel Universe itself could be in real danger.

For readers craving even more Wade Wilson, the mayhem continues next month with Wade Wilson: Deadpool, a brand-new solo series by Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw. Launching as part of the X-Men’s Shadows of Tomorrow era, the series digs into a darker, more dangerous side of the character as Wade seeks redemption after a catastrophic mistake that cost him everything.

Deadpool: April Pool’s Day #1 will feature covers by David Baldeón, Todd Nauck, and Jim Rugg, plus an additional variant by Kei Zama spotlighting Death’s Head. Marvel has also unveiled the first two April Pool’s Day variant covers, with more reveals promised in the weeks ahead—because when Deadpool’s involved, the prank never stops.
