Skybound and Image Comics, working alongside Hasbro, have revealed a new wave of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero Silent Missions one-shots—this time putting Cobra front and center. The five standalone, dialogue-free issues will roll out weekly throughout April 2026, celebrating the franchise’s legacy of wordless storytelling with an all-star lineup of creators.
The original Silent Interlude in G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #21 famously redefined what comics could do without a single word of dialogue. Skybound revisited that legacy in April 2025 with a month-long Silent Missions event spotlighting Joe heroes like Beach Head, Jinx, Spirit, Roadblock, and Duke. Now, the spotlight shifts to the villains, as Cobra takes over Silent Missions with five brand-new one-shots.
According to Skybound Editorial Director Alex Antone, the success of the first event made a return inevitable—this time with Cobra’s rogues’ gallery unleashed by some of the biggest names in comics.
The event kicks off with Baroness #1, a tense standalone thriller from Jöelle Jones and Declan Shalvey, where the Baroness races to keep vital Cobra intelligence out of G.I. JOE’s hands—and possibly Destro’s as well. The issue arrives on April 1, 2026.
On April 8, Crimson Guard #1 from Gabriel Hardman drops readers into the final exam for Cobra’s elite guards, as new recruits must protect Cobra Commander during an all-out assault where failure isn’t an option.
April 15 brings Zartan #1, crafted by legendary Spider-Man collaborators Pat Olliffe and Tom DeFalco. The master of disguise finds himself in a lethal undercover mission that pits him against Cobra Commander, Major Bludd, and G.I. JOE alike.
Next up on April 22 is Copperhead #1, with Howard Porter delivering a high-speed swamp death race that’s as brutal as it is relentless—one Copperhead may not survive.
The Silent Missions event concludes with Firefly #1, written and drawn by Eisner- and Harvey-nominated creator Jorge Fornés, sending Cobra’s saboteur on a no-win mission that escalates into a deadly clash with the Oktober Guard.
Each issue will be priced at $3.99 and available in comic shops and on digital platforms, delivering a month-long, wordless deep dive into Cobra’s most dangerous operatives.
