Exclusive ‘X-Men United’ preview: Storm, Vulcan & other mutants head to Graymatter Lane

The glowing doors to Emma Frost’s school open to mutants around the world.

At the start of this week, X-Men Monday eXclusively revealed artist Tiago Palma’s concept art and unfinished pages from the upcoming X-Men United #1, alongside an interview with series writer Eve L. Ewing. Well, almost one week later, at least two pages are a little more finished, and we’re going to eXclusively reveal those, too!

First up, Graymatter Lane founder Emma Frost, pouring herself a cup of tea to go with her croissant — now in full color!

Then, we have an all-new two-page spread featuring a mix of A-list mutants, such as Storm and Gambit, fan favorites like Multiple Man and Vulcan, and Random! (This is when I find out Random has a legion of die-hard fans, isn’t it? Wait… I just remembered I own two Random action figures… am I a die-hard Random fan?!?)

These doors to Graymatter Lane are giving off real Krakoan gate vibes — especially Shark-Girl’s!

Either way, this spread seems to reflect X-Men United’s promise of bringing together mutants from different eras.

“Having such a huge cast of characters is the best part and the hardest part,” Ewing told X-Men Monday. “Everyone has their hardcore faves, and someone will always be bummed if their favorite character doesn’t make an appearance, but at the same time, it’s hard to tell great stories where folks get room to breathe once your cast gets too big. So I hope to hit a nice balance of big stars, characters we maybe haven’t seen for a while, and newer kids, both from Exceptional and from Gail Simone‘s run on Uncanny X-Men.”

For more about X-Men United, read Ewing’s full interview with X-Men Monday, as well as the prior edition, featuring Conductor of X Tom Brevoort. X-Men United #1 goes on sale March 11, 2026.

And be sure to return to AIPT this Monday (January 26, 2026) for an all-new edition of X-Men Monday, featuring an in-depth interview with writer Alex Paknadel on his upcoming Cyclops limited series, as well as the lettered preview for its first issue!
