TMNT Tuesday #45: ‘Rise’ Donnie wasn’t the only surprise

Rise Donnie was just the start and today’s TMNT Tuesday reveal adds two more fan-favorite Turtles to the main story in ‘TMNT: Battle Nexus’ #4.

You asked for more Rise of the TMNT Donnie, and IDW is happy to oblige, but that’s not the whole story.

Today, TMNT Tuesday can reveal that Rise Donatello won’t be fighting alone. Joining him in the main story are 2003 animated Leonardo and Archie Comics-era Raphael, expanding the multiverse mash-up in a big way and giving fans of multiple TMNT generations something to cheer about.

And that’s just surprise number one.

The preview also offers a first look at the backup one-shot, teasing even more Turtle goodness beyond the core story. If this book was already shaping up to be a celebration of everything TMNT, today’s reveal makes it clear IDW is leaning further than ever. There are deep cuts, fan-favorites, and unexpected team-ups included.

And just in case you needed the reminder: TMNT: Battle Nexus #4 goes on sale TOMORROW.

So what’s TMNT: Battle Nexus #4 about?

Where do Battle Nexus fighters go when they lose? You can bet it’s not very pleasant, as one of our Ninja Turtles heroes discovers when he’s transported there after a brutal bout. But what he finds is something he never expected: himself. Meanwhile, Donatello is pitted against Metalhead, a robotic Ninja Turtle from another universe! Originally designed by a version of Donnie to help the TMNT become the best fighters they could be, this Metalhead has been reprogrammed to use all of Donnie’s brilliance against him! How can one Ninja Turtle hope to defeat a state-of-the-art machine that knows every fighting style in existence?!

More reveals, more eras, more Turtles. That’s how you do a TMNT Tuesday.
