Shadow Crown Comics is stepping into bold, genre-bending territory with WE WHO REMAIN, a sweeping new mythic sci-fi epic from acclaimed actor and multi-disciplinary creator Osy Ikhile (Black Mirror, Citadel, All American), brought vividly to life by the Marvida brothers: artist and letterer Mark Marvida (The Crying Boy, Pocus Hocus) and colorist Marvin Marvida (Spectrum).
Across a divided world where futurist technology and ancient magic uneasily coexist, WE WHO REMAIN follows six wounded strangers drawn together by forces far greater than themselves. Neon towers rise from the shattered Corelands, while the ancient spirits of the Hollow Wilds whisper through the dark—two worlds colliding as humanity teeters on the edge of collapse.
Drawing from his background in film and television, Ikhile approaches comics with a cinematic eye. The result is expansive worldbuilding rendered in striking, emotional imagery: dystopian cities glowing against ruin, supernatural wilderness shaped by forgotten gods, and characters whose scars—both visible and hidden—drive the story forward. At its core, We Who Remain is about what rises after faith collapses, about love born in devastation, and about the painful cost of rebuilding when everything familiar has burned away.
The story centers on the fading echo of Elara, a guardian of light whose call pulls these six broken souls into a battle for humanity’s last breath. But the threat they face isn’t simply monstrous or mechanical. It’s deeply personal. Dalia—Elara’s sister, her equal, and her opposite—has returned to shatter the balance of life itself. As cities burn and the earth trembles, the group must confront not only corrupted citadels of metal and blood-soaked arenas, but also the ghosts of their own pasts. In this world, power never comes without a wound.
“I grew up on horror, sci-fi, and superhero stories, but I never saw worlds that looked like the one in my head,” Ikhile said. “I sketched these characters years ago, and after looking back at them during the summer, the stories started to form, and their struggles mirrored things I’d been through myself. The story began as a TV series, but at some point, I realised no one else was going to make it for me, so I decided to move to another medium I love instead. This format let me dive deeper into the themes I care about: identity, inner conflict, and the resilience that comes from surviving hard moments. All wrapped up in creative fulfilment that came with world-building.”
Mark Marvida echoed that passion, adding, “We Who Remain is more than a sci-fi story—it’s the result of years of practice, passion, and dedication. Every page carries a piece of my journey as an artist. I’m grateful for the support and especially to our writer, whose vision helped shape this into the most powerful book I’ve ever worked on.”
And when it comes to the preview pages below? Osy Ikhile exclusively told us: “These pages capture the moment where everything changes. What begins as a desperate fight turns into something much bigger when a stranger intervenes and the world cracks open. We Who Remain is a story about loss, survival, and the choices people make when they’re pushed past their limits. This preview is just the start—there’s a much larger world waiting beyond these pages, and it only gets darker from here.”

If this opening chapter is any indication, WE WHO REMAIN isn’t just asking how the world ends, but what, and who, is worth saving when it does.
