Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Hasbro, revealed a special set of connecting variant covers arriving in June 2026 to celebrate the third anniversary of the Energon Universe. The variants are illustrated by Skybound exclusive artist Tom Reilly (G.I. JOE) with colors by Adriano Lucas (Ghost Pepper).
The Energon Universe launched in 2023 with the surprise debut of Void Rivals #1 by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Lorenzo De Felici. Since then, the line has expanded into a shared comics universe featuring Transformers, G.I. JOE, and the newly announced M.A.S.K., which launches June 3.
To mark the anniversary, every Energon Universe title releasing in June will feature open-to-order connecting covers by Reilly and Lucas. A second version of the cover will also be available in black and white.
The connecting set will span M.A.S.K. #1, Transformers #33, G.I. JOE #23, and Void Rivals #31. When placed together, the artwork forms a massive scene featuring 82 characters from across the Energon Universe. The lineup includes characters tied to the return of M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M., along with favorites like Arcee Magnus, Crystal Ball, Storm Shadow, and Scarlett.
