DC Pride 2026 reveals ‘Justice League: Dream Girls’ event starring Galaxy and Dreamer

DC’s Pride initiative connects DC’s All In and Next Level comics with new stories across Pride Month and beyond.

DC is going big for Pride Month 2026, and it’s about building the future of the DC Universe.

Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event announced

DC has revealed Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event, a four-issue miniseries launching in June 2026 that anchors this year’s DC Pride 2026 initiative. Not only is this a celebration of LGBTQIA+ heroes, but also a major, continuity-driven story that places them at the center of the DC Universe.

This year’s publishing initiative spans YA graphic novels, mainline comics, and a Justice League event, all designed to spotlight queer heroes while pushing their stories forward in meaningful ways.

“The DC Pride priorities have always been to spotlight queer characters, serve as a launchpad for new, year-round DC storytelling, and celebrate our roster of incredible talent,” said editor Andrea Shea. “And in so many ways, 2026 is the culmination of the last five years, what we have always been building toward, a series of stories that take place in the heart of DC continuity and serve as the next chapters for some of our most beloved characters.”

A story years in the making: Galaxy and Dreamer take center stage

At the heart of DC Pride 2026 are Galaxy and Dreamer, two heroes whose arcs have been steadily building across multiple titles.

Not only are their stories interconnected, but they also unfold across three major releases:

  • Justice League Intergalactic Special #1 (April 29, 2026)
  • Galaxy: As the World Falls Down (May 5, 2026)
  • Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event (June 2026)

Together, these stories bridge DC’s YA and mainline universes, culminating in a defining moment for both characters.

First stop: Justice League Intergalactic Special #1

Before Dream Girls begins, Galaxy and Dreamer finally team up in DC’s mainline continuity.

Co-written by Jadzia Axelrod and Nicole Maines, this one-shot throws the pair into a cosmic crisis as the Witch Queen targets the dream energy of Naltor. While Galaxy is a rising Justice League member, Dreamer is still dealing with the fallout of past decisions that have left her reputation in question.

“The beauty of this team-up is that Dreamer’s and Galaxy’s lives have gone in such different directions,” said Axelrod. “Galaxy is a respected member of the Justice League, but her teammates see Dreamer as a war criminal. Can their friendship survive their increasingly divergent perspectives? You would have to be really good friends to weather that. You would have to be the best friends in the universe.”

The YA cornerstone: Galaxy returns in a new graphic novel

Galaxy’s journey continues in Galaxy: As the World Falls Down, the sequel to The Prettiest Star.

Written by Axelrod with art by Rye Hickman, the story follows Taylor Barzelay as she faces the looming threat of the Vane while navigating identity, friendship, and life after coming out.

“Galaxy: As the World Falls Down is about what comes next after coming out, said Axelrod. “It’s about being a teenage superhero while also being trans and queer, feeling anxiety about life after high school while making sure the world doesn’t end, and what to do when a powerful empire wants you dead.”

The main event: Justice League: Dream Girls

Everything builds to Justice League: Dream Girls – A DC Pride Event, a four-issue miniseries co-written by Nicole Maines and Jadzia Axelrod with a stacked lineup of artists.

The story begins with Galaxy and Dreamer awakening on Themyscira, living what appears to be a perfect life. Not only does the world feel like a dream, but also something is deeply wrong.

Behind it all is the Key, a classic Justice League villain who manipulates perception and dreamspace, offering Dreamer a version of reality that feels easier than the one she left behind.

At its core, the series is driven by emotional stakes:

  • Dreamer is questioning her future and her identity as a hero
  • Galaxy is trying to prove she belongs among the Justice League
  • Their friendship is tested by illusion, pressure, and doubt

Not only is this a cosmic adventure, but also a story about identity, resilience, and the power of connection.

“This journey she’s been on started way back during the Beast World event and has been building up to this moment of reckoning for a long time,” said Maines. “Across Intergalactic Special and Dream Girls we can deliver a lot of the nuance and grit that we are not always afforded the ability or space to explore with our queer characters.”

“Galaxy’s journey has always been about the struggle to define yourself,” Axelrod added. “The Key offers them everything they have ever wanted, with no effort or difficulty. How does Galaxy handle a life without struggle? Not well, it turns out.”

Bonus stories and expanded universe connections

Each issue of Dream Girls will include a backup story spotlighting fan-favorite heroes:

  • Batwoman in issue #1
  • Green Lantern Corps in issue #2
  • Poison Ivy in issue #3
  • A personal story by Klaus Janson in issue #4

These stories connect to larger 2026 publishing plans, including Batwoman’s Next Level series and Poison Ivy’s role in the upcoming Bad Seeds event.

More DC Pride 2026 highlights

Rounding out the celebration is DC Pride: The Heart Wants, a hardcover collection featuring stories from the 2025 Pride one-shot alongside new material.

DC will also roll out Pride-themed variant covers across its monthly titles, spotlighting queer heroes across the line including Batwoman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and more.

A defining moment for DC Pride

DC Pride 2026 is not only about honoring LGBTQIA+ heroes, but also about placing them at the center of the biggest stories DC is telling right now.

With Justice League: Dream Girls, Galaxy and Dreamer step into that spotlight in a story that ties together years of character development and sets the stage for what comes next.

As Shea puts it:

“These stories are woven into the very fabric of the DC Universe. It’s such a joy to take this next step with these two amazing characters at the forefront, flanked by DC Pride’s pantheon new and old.”
