Oni Press is heading back to the front lines this August with a brutal new entry in its EC Comics revival, and it’s shaping up to be one of its most intense yet. Titled EC Shellshock #1, the 56-page one-shot delivers a slate of war stories that dig into the psychological toll of combat, with a focus on humanity’s capacity for violence.
Following recent EC titles like Shiver SuspenStories, Outlaw Showdown, and Tortured Hearts, this latest special shifts its attention to the battlefield. The anthology brings together a stacked lineup of writers, including Julio Anta, John Arcudi, Benito Cereno, and Michael W. Conrad. On art duties are Tom Fowler, David Lapham, Albert Monteys, and Shawn Martinbrough, each bringing their own style to stories centered on soldiers, survival, and the cost of war.
The issue aims to capture the chaos and emotional weight of combat, presenting stories where the enemy is not always who you expect. As Oni Press leans into EC’s legacy of hard-hitting storytelling, Shellshock promises tales where both victory and defeat come at the same cost.
“Take a journey into the deepest depths of the heart of darkness, as SHELLSHOCK showcases the most skin-crawling monster of all— humankind’s capacity for war and bloodshed,” said Senior Editor Allyson Gronowitz.
In addition to new material, the issue will also include a restored and remastered EC Comics classic, continuing the publisher’s effort to connect modern creators with the line’s storied past.
EC Shellshock #1 will feature a range of covers from top artists, including Lee Bermejo, Tyler Crook, Tom Fowler, Jay Stephens, and Rian Hughes, along with multiple variant editions and a blank sketch cover.

EC Shellshock #1 arrives in comic shops August 19, 2026 for $8.99.
