#5: Spawn #376

‘Spawn’ #376 feels dangerous, mysterious, and essential

Spawn #376 feels like the start of something genuinely exciting. Rosenberg shifts the focus away from cosmic battles and toward the people forced to live in the aftermath, creating a fresh perspective on a character more than three decades old. Combined with Segovia’s atmospheric artwork and a setting transformed by the end of the war between Heaven and Hell, the result is a compelling first chapter that builds intrigue while making the stakes feel larger than ever. A bold new era that makes Spawn feel dangerous, mysterious, and essential again.

#4: The Deadman #1

‘The Deadman’ #1 reimagines Boston Brand’s place in the afterlife

Overall, The Deadman #1 succeeds because it fully commits to its strange premise while still honoring what makes Boston Brand compelling. The energy, imagination, and eerie visuals make this one of DC’s more intriguing launches in the “Next Level” line. If the creative team can continue balancing humor, horror, and heart, this series could become something special.

#3: Uncanny X-Men #29

‘Uncanny X-Men’ #29 contains multiple resolutions

Uncanny X-Men #29 sticks the landing on a storyline that has been building for a long time. Gail Simone balances multiple battles, character revelations, and emotional beats without losing momentum, while Luciano Vecchio’s artwork injects nearly every page with energy and excitement. Perimeter continues to evolve into a genuinely unsettling villain, and the multiple threats keep you guessing as the story pinballs from one threat to another. A few supporting elements, particularly the Outliers, feel underserved given their importance to the arc, but the issue’s strong pacing, striking visuals, and satisfying resolutions make it one of the most entertaining chapters of the run.

#2: Poison Ivy #45

‘Poison Ivy’ #45 escalates Pamela Isley’s fall from grace

Poison Ivy #45 is a tightly written issue that begins to lay the foundation for what will become Batman: Bad Seeds. The issue explores Ivy feeling like a failure, and sees her struggling with losing allies and her grip on power starting to slip.

#1: Radiant Black #42

‘Radiant Black’ #42 is a true game-changer

Radiant Black #42 closes out its latest story arc with a bold choice that upends its narrative, while also keeping plenty of the unique visuals that have come to define this book. I cannot stress it enough: this is a comic that should be on your pull list, especially after this issue.
