USA TODAY PLAY partners with Marvel for exclusive weekly Spider-Man comic series

Spider-Man swings into a new digital adventure as Marvel and USA TODAY PLAY team up for a year-long exclusive Infinity Comic series from Al Ewing and Todd Nauck.

USA TODAY PLAY is expanding its digital entertainment offerings through a new collaboration with Marvel Comics that brings an original Spider-Man comic series directly to subscribers.

The partnership introduces Spider-Man TODAY, a new vertically formatted Marvel Infinity Comic created exclusively for USA TODAY PLAY. Written by Al Ewing and illustrated by Todd Nauck, the series will release new chapters every Wednesday over the next 47 weeks, following Spider-Man as he teams up with heroes from across the Marvel Universe.

Alongside the new weekly series, subscribers will gain unlimited access to a library of more than 1,000 Marvel digital comics. The collection includes stories featuring the X-Men, Captain America, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain Marvel, and many other fan-favorite characters. Readers without a subscription will still be able to sample a rotating selection of Marvel content each week.

The announcement marks another step in USA TODAY PLAY’s effort to broaden its lineup beyond games and puzzles.

“We’re thrilled to expand the USA TODAY PLAY brand through this exciting collaboration with Marvel,” said Dara Sanderson, Vice President and General Manager of USA TODAY PLAY. “We’re continuing to broaden our offerings, and this project is a testament to that. By blending iconic storytelling with interactive experiences true to the USA TODAY PLAY ethos, we continue to create daily moments that provide users well-deserved breaks from everyday stressors.”

Marvel sees the initiative as another way to connect readers with its growing catalog of digital comics.

“As digital comics continue to grow, we have the opportunity at Marvel to bring our comics to more fans across different platforms,” said Jon-Michael Ennis, Director of Digital Publishing at Marvel. “We’re excited to be working with USA TODAY to invite even more people to experience our comic book storytelling, whether they’re brand new to comics or lifelong readers.”
