Marvel Comics has unveiled a new batch of variant covers for Avengers #1, the highly anticipated relaunch from writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Marco Checchetto arriving this November. The publisher also shared new details about the issue’s True Believers Blind Bag program, which will include exclusive covers unavailable through standard orders.
The new ongoing series follows the events of Avengers: Armageddon, the five-issue limited series by Zdarsky, Delio Diaz, and Frank Alpizar that launched last week. Set in a dramatically altered Marvel Universe, the title introduces a new era for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes as they attempt to protect a world that no longer fully trusts them.
Marvel’s new Avengers lineup features Spider-Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, Daredevil, and Luke Cage alongside familiar Avengers icons. According to the publisher, the team will face the challenge of defending a fractured world while navigating growing public distrust.
Today’s cover reveal showcases artwork by Kaare Andrews, Peach Momoko, Ryan Stegman, and Clayton Crain, each highlighting members of the new roster. Marvel also unveiled a cover by Simone Bianchi featuring Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor.
The launch will continue Marvel’s True Believers Blind Bag initiative which started with Ultimate Endgame late last year, with Avengers #1 becoming the latest title available in sealed mystery packaging. Each blind bag contains an exclusive variant cover that cannot be ordered through traditional channels.
Marvel confirmed that neither the main cover nor standard open-to-order variants will appear in the blind bags. Instead, collectors will find a selection of exclusive covers created specifically for the program. The publisher also teased the return of ultra-rare surprise variants, including hand-drawn one-of-one sketch covers from unannounced contributors.
With Zdarsky and Checchetto reuniting for one of Marvel’s biggest launches of the year, Avengers #1 is shaping up to be a major release for both readers and collectors when it arrives in November.
