Monday afternoon in a post on the Blizzard forums, one of the company’s Community Managers formally announced that the 14th Season of competitive Overwatch will end this Thursday, February 28 at 4:00 p.m. PST (Friday, March 1 at 00:00 UTC). Season 15 will commence immediately after 14’s end, on the same day at 4:00 p.m. PST (Friday, March 1 at 00:00 UTC), which allows players to immediately begin their Season 15 placement matches.

Blizzard has been slowly winding down the breaks between seasons, with the off-season between 13 and 14 only lasting two hours. Which had fans asking at the time, what’s the point of a two hour break? Why have a break at all? Apparently Blizzard is now of the same opinion, which is sure to please fans across the board.
As with every Overwatch season past, if a player completed placement matches for Season 14 they will be eligible for rewards — including a special season specific spray and player icon, which are unlocked once Season 15 officially commences. Players skilled enough to have placed within the Top 500 players will receive an extra player icon and animated spray on top of the other seasonal rewards.
Players also receive Competitive Points based on their maximum skill rating achieved during the season. Competitive points enable players to purchase the coveted golden weapons, which are priced at 3,000 competitive points to unlock (per hero).
Here’s the conversion table for Skill Rating (SR) to Competitive Point (CP) for Season 14:
SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 65 CP
SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 125 CP
SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 250 CP
SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 500 CP
SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 750 CP
SR 3500-3999 (Master): 1200 CP
SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 1750 CP
