Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye is the latest Marvel hero to get his own series on Disney’s upcoming streaming platform, Disney+, according to a Variety report.
While Disney and Marvel have both declined to comment, Variety reports that they have learned from sources familiar with the matter that Disney+ is developing a series based on the Avenger. In the series, Clint Barton will pass the mantle of Hawkeye to Kate Bishop. Bishop currently appears in Marvel comic books including Young Avengers as Hawkeye.
Hawkeye joins Loki, The Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Winter Soldier as MCU characters who will be getting their own Disney+ limited series.
Disney+, The Walt Disney Company’s first foray into running their own streaming service, is set to launch in the United States some time this year. It will tap into Disney’s giant library of original content, including Marvel, Star Wars, Disney animated classics, and more. It’s said to be a complement to Hulu, which Disney owns a 60% stake in.
