Oh, snap. The early opening weekend numbers are in for Avengers: Endgame and although it was a safe bet the film would rake when it came to box office earnings, the numbers it has put up already are downright Mind Stone shattering.
According to the official Walt Disney Company press release, Endgame has become the first film ever to exceed $1 billion in its opening weekend, with an estimated 1.209 billion dollars in the global market and $350 million domestically. That’s $93 million more than previous record holder Avengers: Infinity War, which earned $257.69 million in its opening weekend.
Some more interesting statistics for Avengers: Endgame from the Walt Disney press release:
- No. 1 domestic ($350 million), international ($859 million), and global ($1.209 billion) debuts
- No. 1 domestic Thursday previews ($60 million)
- No. 1 domestic single-day gross and No. 1 domestic Friday gross ($156.7 million)

- No. 1 China opening day ($107.8 million) and opening weekend ($330.5 million) and already ranking as the No. 4 non-local film ever released there

“Marvel Studios now holds the top two global openings of all time (Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Infinity War), as well as six of the top 10 domestic debuts and two of the top three international,” the press release goes on to say. “Avengers: Endgame is the 22nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), an unprecedented collection of interconnected films, all of which have opened No. 1 domestically. Globally, the films have grossed a collective $19.9 billion to date, with the four Avengers films–The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame–accounting for nearly $6.2 billion.”
