Every Pokemon in the Pokemon Sword and Shield Galar Pokedex

There’s 400 species of Pokemon in the Galar Pokedex.

The day countless Pokemon fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. Pokemon Sword and Shield’s release day!

As they say, it’s time to catch em’ all. But first there’s a burning question that’s undoubtedly on the mind of most fans, and that’s which of the roughly 890 Pokemon species made the cut?

There’s been a lot of controversy within the last few days for Pokemon Sword and Shield due to Game Freak’s decision to cut the usable number of in-game Pokemon in half. Part of the fallout from this has been massive fan outrage on social media and #GameFreakLied has been a trending US topic on Twitter since the game’s release.

Yet regardless of the negative social media reaction to the number of Pokemon Game Freak decided to include in the game, the fact remains that there’s still a lot Pokemon to be caught in the new Galar region that players will explore.

Sword and Shield’s new generation of Pokemon, generation 8, adds 91 new Pokedex entries, with four of the new 91 species being evolved forms of Galarian forms, bringing the total Pokemon to 400. But don’t take that as the official final count just, as a recent datamine revealed that there’s actually 435 Pokemon, including Bulbasaur, Squirtle, as well as their respective evolutions. Originally Charmander was the only one of the original three starts to be included.
