Cyberpunk 2077 delayed again to November 19

CD Projekt Red needs more time address balance issues and bugs.

UPDATE: Since this article’s publishing, the release date for Cyberpunk 2077 has been pushed back once again, this time to December 10.

CD Projekt Red has announced that its upcoming RPG Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed once again, pushing back its release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One from September 17 to November 19.

In a statement published to the game’s official Twitter account, CD Projekt Red co-founder Marcin Iwiński and head of studio Adam Badowski, explained that “ready when it’s done” is “not just a phrase we say because it sounds right, it’s something we live by even when we know we’ll take the heat for it.”

“At the time we are writing these words, Cyberpunk 2077 is finished both content and gameplay-wise,” Iwiński and Badowski continued. “The quests, the cutscenes, the skills and items; all the adventures Night City has to offer–it’s all there. But with such an abundance of content and complex systems interweaving with each other, we need to properly go through everything, balance game mechanics and fix a lot of bugs. A huge world means a huge number of things to iron out and we will spend the additional time doing exactly that.”

Unlike most studios that have faced delays over the past several months, CD Projekt Red makes no mention of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as being a contribution to Cyberpunk 2077’s delays.

The statement concludes with the confirmation that Cyberpunk 2077 will still be moving forward with its Night City Wire presentation on June 25, 2020 and that previews of the game will be published by journalists all over the world after the event concludes.
