Today Final Fantasy VII arrived on Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service for console and PC players. The company shared the exciting news with fans earlier this afternoon.

Final Fantasy VII is widely acknowledge as being one of the greatest JRPGs of all-time and one of the greatest overall games ever produced. Since its release in 1997, over twenty years ago now, the game has attained a near legendary status. Final Fantasy VII has been hailed by video game fans as the best game ever released on PlayStation and one of the best game to ever come out of Japan.
The classic Japanese RPG has been ported and enhanced across a slew of various platforms over the years, received a multimedia sub-series called the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, inspired multiple animated films, and has an ongoing multipart modern remake — Final Fantasy VII Remake — of which the first installment was released in 2020
Final Fantasy VII on Xbox Game Pass is an exact port of the original game and also includes a few extra features such: 3x speed mode, the ability to disable battle encounters, and a battle enhancement mode. The features aren’t exclusive to Game Pass, but hey, they’re free.
If you’re not familiar with Microsoft’s gaming subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, then you probably should be. It’s available for $4.99 a month on PC and $9.99 on console. Both versions of the service off unlimited access to over 100 high-quality games, membership discounts, and best of all, Xbox Game Studio titles the same day as release. Pay close attention to that last point, as it means that every time Microsoft releases a first-party title via Xbox Game Studio, you can play it on release day without having to buy it.
