DC Comics reveals new 2021 titles at ComicsPRO retailer event

DC Comics teases Elseworld DC Vampires, Joker: A Puzzle Box, Batman, Harley, Crush and Lobo, and more.

Earlier today, DC Comics revealed a list of upcoming titles many of which are tantalizing, to say the least. It’s not yet known who the creative teams will be, but some of the titles speak for themselves. DC Vice President of Sales and Revenue Nancy Spears teased the titles which are no-brainers and others incredibly unique.

Check out the full list of DC Comics titles below:

  • Deathstroke Inc.
  • Harley Quinn Animated Series sequel
  • A Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary title
  • Elseworld
  • “DC Vampires” (working title)
  • Robin and Batman
  • Joker: A Puzzle Box
  • The Legend of Batman
  • Crush and Lobo
  • Nubia and the Amazons
  • DC Middle Ages

Let’s start with the no-brainers, which include the Wonder Woman 80th anniversary title. Similar to the Joker and Robin 80th anniversary one-shot stories this will likely contain at least 10 creative teams and 10 stories. Nubia and the Amazons isn’t a surprise either after DC Comics introduced the character back in October. We also already knew about Legends of the Dark Knight. It’s also no surprise Harley Quinn the Animated Series is getting a sequel.

But what could Elseworld be about? Is it a new series set in different multiverses? Crush and Lobo is also interesting since it could be an interesting way of developing Lobo’s daughter. DC Middle Ages is also interesting since it could be a similar idea as Marvel 1602 by Neil Gaiman. Seeing an entire DC universe via the Middle Ages could be a unique take.

Other titles like DC Vampires and Joker: Puzzle Box are intriguing in part because they may be part of the DC Black Label line. It’s also worth noting Jeff Lemire revealed a few weeks ago he has yet to be announced DC Black Label titles coming this year. Scott Snyder also revealed on the AIPT Comics podcast he has projects lined up with DC Comics. Could any of these titles be what Snyder is up to?

Last but not least is Deathstroke Inc. which might be a similar play as Batman Inc. by Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham. Has Deathstroke expanded his operation into the corporate sphere?

We’ll have more answers as the year goes on, so check back to AIPT soon as we get information from DC Comics directly.
