On Friday, Joe Otterson at Variety exclusively revealed that Laurie Holden has been cast as Crimson Countess in Season 3 of Amazon Prime’s The Boys. According to Otterson, the role will be a recurring one.
Most folks will recognize Holden from her role as Andrea on The Walking Dead. If you’re also a reader/fan of the comics, then you shouldn’t hold that against her. She’s a fantastic actress who did an admirable job making the show’s horrible portrayal of the character work (and she wasn’t exactly thrilled about how AMC handled Andrea, either).

As for Crimson Countess, there’s not much out there unless you go directly to the comic source material. I’ll admit upfront that I haven’t read any of the volumes she appeared in. All I can reveal (without getting too spoilery) is that she has fire-based powers, a fictional movie was made about her, and she’s somehow linked to Soldier Boy, who will be played by Jensen Ackles.
She also apparently tried to kill Butcher’s dog Terror at some point. If that happens in the show, then I think we all know who our new most hated character will be.
