On Monday, Justin Kroll of Deadline.com exclusively revealed that Cobie Smulders will reprise her role as Maria Hill for Disney+’s upcoming Secret Invasion series. The news really shouldn’t come as a surprise considering Nick Fury’s involvement and how stacked the cast is, but it’s still nice to have some official confirmation.
The last time we saw the MCU version of Maria Hill, she’d been resurrected after The Blip and was attending Tony Stark’s funeral at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame. That wasn’t the last time we saw Cobie Smulders, though. Although Hill appeared to play a part in Spider-Man: Far From Home, we learned (via a post credit scene) that she was actually being impersonated by a Skrull (Soren) at Fury’s behest.
The question now is what she’s been up to while hiding out with Fury and what they plan to do about a potential Skrull invasion of our world. Whatever the case, it’ll be great to have Smulders fantastic portrayal of one of Marvel’s most under appreciated characters back on screen again.
Secret Invasion will premiere December 2022 exclusively on Disney+.
