The biggest new video games coming out the week of 2/7/22

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

While January may have gotten 2022 off to a slow gaming start, February’s releases will surely have your wallet wonder, “Where’d all my money go?” And we’re not even halfway through the month!

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this month.

OlliOlli World (2/7)

Taking place in Radlandia (hell yeah), OlliOlli World is for all of us weirdos who grew up on Rocket Power and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater and want something a little… strange in a video game. It’s a 2D platforming skateboard game with unique visual flair. Gameplay consists of stringing together skating tricks along the game’s tracks, ramps, and pipes with the ultimate goal to be crowned the gnarliest skater around.

CrossfireX (2/10)

While you may not have heard of it (I certainly didn’t until recently), the CrossFire series is one of the most popular game franchises in the world, mostly due to its player count in Asia, notably South Korea and China. The newest entry, CrossfireX, arrives for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One as well as Xbox Game Pass this week. The single-player campaign, consisting of operations to be purchased for under thirty bucks, has been developed by Remedy Entertainment (Quantum BreakAlan Wake) while Smilegate, developer of the OG CrossFire, tackled the free-to-play multiplayer. If you’re looking for a new FPS, why not give CrossfireX a go.

Sifu (2/8)

Sloclap’s first game since 2017’s Absolver is beat ’em up Sifu. Players will master the art of kung fu alongside a young kung fu student as he sets out to avenge his murdered family. Timing and parrying attacks are key to stringing together combos to take down enemies. A unique element of Sifu is its roguelike structure — each death ages to main character upon resurrection until the magic is depleted and the character dies permanently, causing the player to start a new run.
