After initially being announced for PlayStation consoles, Xbox consoles, and PC, Hogwarts Legacy will seemingly also make its way to the Nintendo Switch when it releases late this year. The Switch is listed as a platform the game will be released on according to the FAQ page on the game’s website. No word yet on if Hogwarts Legacy will be a cloud version or not for the Switch.
Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world RPG set in Hogwarts during the 1800s. Players will customize their own fifth-year Hogwarts student to explore the Wizarding World. Gameplay will consist of traversing via flying broomsticks, solving puzzles, and battling magical creatures. You can read an in-depth feature on the game over at the PlayStation Blog.
Of course, we can’t talk about anything Harry Potter-related without mentioning the franchise’s creator, J.K. Rowling. She’s come under fire in recent years for her harmful comments about the trans community. The FAQ page mentioned above is quick to note while “J.K. Rowling is supportive of Portkey Games,” the game’s story “is not a new story from J.K. Rowling.”
Hogwarts Legacy will release, barring any delays, this holiday season for the PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Watch the official gameplay reveal from yesterday’s Hogwarts Legacy State of Play below.
