2022 has been off to a blazing start for gamers, from major releases like Pokémon Legends: Arceus to Horizon Forbidden West to Elden Ring. Game releases may be slowing down in April, but there’s still plenty to look forward to.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
MLB The Show 22 (4/5)
MLB The Show 22 arrives just in time for the (slightly delayed) start to the MLB season. It’ll be a widely accessible title as it’s the first MLB The Show title to arrive on the Nintendo Swich and will be available on Xbox Game Pass immediately at launch. Gaming on PlayStation but have friends on Xbox and Switch? No problem, as MLB The Show 22 supports cross-play — and even cross-saves and progression.
Godfall: Ultimate Edition (4/7)
Previously only available on PlayStation consoles and PC, Godfall will make its way to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S this week. The Ultimate Edition will include the Fire & Darkness Expansion and the Ascended and Pre-order Cosmetic Packs in addition to the base game. Godfall received a tepid reception at launch, with its visuals being praised but its repetitive gameplay earning poor marks from critics. It’ll receive a large update that overhauls the combat this week as well, giving older players a reason to come back to the game and see if it has improved.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (4/5)
For a while there, the best Star Wars games fans could play were the LEGO Star Wars titles. That’s changed in recent years, with the releases of games like Jedi: Fallen Order and Squadrons, but the LEGO games still hold a special place in many fans’ hearts. The newest game drops this week and looks to cover all nine mainline films. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will have five missions for each film with over 300 hundred playable characters. Several DLC packs will be released post-launch containing characters from other Star Wars films and shows, like Rogue One and The Mandalorian.
