On Wednesday, Peter White at Deadline reported that both Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will be joining Apple TV+’s upcoming Godzilla series. For the elder Russell, it will be the first onscreen television series he’s worked on since 1980. As most of you are well aware, the veteran actor has had an incredible film career since then, including iconic genre roles in The Thing and Escape from New York.

Russell didn’t completely abandon television, though. After appearing as Starlord’s father Ego in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, he voiced the character for Marvel’s animated What If…? series last year.
As for Wyatt Russell, he recently had his own breakout MCU role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier as John Walker, aka U.S. Agent. He currently stars in the critically acclaimed true crime miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven.

The untitled Godzilla series will mark the first time father and son have worked onscreen together since the 1998 sci-fi military film Soldier. No matter how the Godzilla series turns out, it’s a safe bet that this collaboration will end up being a lot more memorable.
The Russells join previously announced cast members Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Elisa Lasowski, Ren Watabe, and Joe Tippett. At this time, there’s been no word or definitive leaks on what their roles will be.
The series will take place in the aftermath of the 2014 Godzilla film as a family traces their connections to the Monarch organization.
