2023 has gotten off to an excellent start for video games, with hits like the Dead Space remake and Wild Hearts releasing alongside indie gems like Season: A Letter to the Future. This week looks to continue that trend with some wonderful indie releases.
Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.
Figment 2: Creed Valley (3/9)
Figment 2: Creed Valley is an exploration of the human mind via musical boss fights and mind-bending puzzles. Music plays a large part in every area of the game as fights are timed to the game’s soundtrack and nightmares have their own theme songs. Local co-op is available as Player 2 can take control of Piper, hero Dusty’s bird, to aid in battle. Figment 2 is a standalone sequel to the first game, which, if you act quick, you can pick up for free on Steam before 1:00 PM EST March 9th.
The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition (3/7)
2019’s renowned RPG The Outer Worlds is getting a makeover this week. The Spacer’s Choice edition is an enhanced next-gen version of the game that promises improved visuals, ups the level cap, and includes the previously released DLC Murder on Eridanos and Peril of Gorgo. If you already own the game, you can upgrade to Spacer’s Choice for $9.99. New players can jump into Obsidian’s wacky and hilarious RPG for $59.99.
Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni (3/9)
Play as an adorable-but-fearsome demon, accompanied by his spirit partner, and challenge other Oni spirits in Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni. The game promises a variety of enemies and missions on the demon-infested island of Kisejima, and you can even level up by running away from enemies in a demonic game of tag. While two-player co-op isn’t available, players will have the unique experience of controlling both Kuuta and Kazemaru, the demon and spirit respectively, at the same time. Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni releases digitally this week, but if you can hold out until the end of April, you can pre-order it now on disc from Red Art Games and receive a free keychain and tote bag.
