Marvel fans received bittersweet news today. Previously only available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, 2022’s excellent Marvel’s Midnight Suns expands its player base next week by releasing May 11 for PS4 and Xbox One. However, Switch owners are out of luck — the previously planned Nintendo Switch version has been cancelled.
Developer Firaxis did not elaborate on the Switch version cancellation, simply stating in their announcement, “Note that a Nintendo Switch version of Marvel’s Midnight Suns is no longer planned.” While receiving rave reviews from critics, Midnight Suns was a “commercial flop” according to Take-Two, and one could assume its commercial performance impacted the decision to cancel the Switch version.
While PS4 and Xbox players have had to wait a while to get their hands on the game, they won’t have to wait for the DLC. All four DLC packs — which include new characters Deadpool, Venom, Morbius, and Storm, as well as story missions for each — will be available May 11. Storm also joins the roster for all versions next Thursday as the fourth and final DLC character. A special bonus mission will be available for players who have purchased and completed all four DLC packs.
