The story so far: Moiraine and Rand run from Lanfear before making a risky decision. After Liandrin’s betrayal, Egwene ends up collared by the Seanchan. Min has made a deal to remove her “curse”, but it comes with a high cost. Perrin frees an Aiel woman.
“Eyes Without Pity” centers around Egwene and her refusal to submit to her Seanchan captors. The entire series has done a great job of showing the strength of the would be Aes Sedai. Episode six brings it all together in her greatest challenge yet. Everything culminates in a tension filled final moments. It is deflating in all the right ways and perfectly fits the tone of the season.
The entire episode overflows with emotion. From tearful reunions to Moiraine’s struggles with her family, The Wheel of Time has some heavy moments. This includes a powerful scene involving Lanfear and Liandrin. It is a roller coaster ride of a watch that keeps audiences engaged.
Episode six does a good job of trying to bring all the storylines together. There are lots of characters – each with their own secrets and motivations. Inevitably, this means some do not appear for long periods of time. This is not a big problem in the books – but television is an out of sight, out of mind medium. So far. The Wheel of Time has not been negatively impacted, but it is noticeable.
The Wheel of Time airs on Prime Video with new episodes every Friday
