Microsoft today announced that Activision Blizzard games will be coming to Game Pass, Xbox’s gaming subscription service. This new initiative will start with Diablo IV, which will be available to Game Pass members starting March 28th. The news came from today’s special edition of the Official Xbox Podcast, where it was also announced that four former Xbox exclusives will be coming to other platforms such as PlayStation and Switch.
“All of our games are always on Game Pass,” said Sarah Bond, Xbox President. “I’m excited to announce with the coming together that we had with Activision-Blizzard-King, that Activision and Blizzard games are coming to Game Pass starting with Diablo IV on March 28th. It’s all part of our commitment to make Xbox, the Xbox experience, and the games we build as widely available as possible.”
One has to imagine Call of Duty and some of the other heavy-hitter IP in Activision Blizzard’s flywheel will follow suit soon after, but it remains to be seen if Blizzard’s recurring cash cow, World of Warcraft, will fit into this model.
Diablo IV will be available on Game Pass starting March 28th.
