New video games worth playing for the week of 5/27/24

Check out what’s new in the world of video games this week.

Spring has sprung, and with it promises indie darlings and Triple A hits releasing week after week. This year has a lot to live up to compared to 2023’s best releases, but it’s been strong so far with releases like Princess Peach: Showtime! and Little Kitty, Big City winning over gamers and cat lovers alike.

Let’s check out what video games are hitting storefronts this week.

Astor: Blade of the Monolith (5/30)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Don’t be misdirected by Astor: Blade of the Monolith‘s vibrant and cute art style; the weight of the world rests on that little dude with a sword’s shoulders. Blade of the Monolith sees chosen one Astor journeying across the world on a quest to discover the secrets of the long lost ancients — secrets that will hopefully help Astor save the world. You’ll acquire four different weapon types, all with unique runic finishers and combo extenders, in this fun action adventure.

F1 24 (5/31)

Platforms: PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S

Put on your helmet, strap yourself in, and push the pedal to the metal with EA’s F1 24. Formula One racing has boomed in popularity in recent years, and fans can play out their own F1 careers in F1 24‘s career mode, which has received its biggest update since 2016 (yep, even F1 is a yearly franchise a la Madden NFL). F1 24 will include your favorite drivers and cars, dynamic handling, and cross-play multiplayer.

The Rogue Prince of Persia (5/27)

Platform: PC

The year of Prince of Persia continues with The Rogue Prince of Persia. Coming from Evil Empire, the studio behind Dead Cells‘ DLCs, it’s a 2D side-scrolling roguelike that pushes the Prince of Persia series into yet another new direction. You’ll once again play as the Prince in an attempt to save Persia from a Hun invasion. Originally supposed to have released earlier in the month, The Rogue Prince of Persia was delayed after Hades II surprised dropped. The Rogue Prince of Persia will first launch in early access on PC, with a full multiplatform release hopefully not too far off (fingers crossed).
