Rob Liefeld is making a major comeback to Youngblood, writing and drawing an all-new series for the first time in three decades. The legendary Deadpool creator and Image Comics co-founder is relaunching Youngblood (2025) this November, and he’s bringing some of the biggest names in comics along for the ride.
The debut issue will feature an array of striking variant covers from Skottie Young (I Hate Fairyland), Daniel Warren Johnson (Transformers, Do A Powerbomb), Ryan Stegman (X-Men, Venom), Ryan Ottley (Invincible), Kael Ngu (Venom), Erik Gist (UnDeadpool), and Mark Spears (Monsters).
“These are the most in-demand, most popular, most celebrated names in the comics business, and Old Man Liefeld could not be more grateful, more humbled that they delivered these spectacular Youngblood covers!” Liefeld said in a statement.
Earlier this year, Liefeld’s Youngblood Deluxe reprints sparked a collector frenzy, selling out instantly. Now, the team is back in action in Youngblood (2025) #1, facing a new threat in the Pacific after a mysterious vessel appears and a deadly enemy emerges.
Image Comics Publisher and Chief Creative Officer Eric Stephenson emphasized the importance of Liefeld’s full creative control this time around: “While Youngblood has returned more than once over the years, the big difference now is that Rob is back at the helm. For fans of his work, this is the definitive Youngblood comeback.”
Liefeld will be celebrating the relaunch in style at San Diego Comic-Con next week. On Thursday, he’s headlining a “Rob Liefeld: Youngblood 33rd Anniversary” panel at 5 p.m. in room 7AB. Fans can also grab an SDCC-exclusive Youngblood #1 variant at the Image Comics booth (#1915), where Liefeld will be signing on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Youngblood (2025) #1 hits comic shops on Wednesday, November 5, and will also be available digitally on Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
