Plaid Hat Games has launched its latest board game, The Monolith, on Kickstarter, introducing a new competitive strategy game that pits rival shamans against one another in a fight for survival and supremacy.
Designed for three to four players, The Monolith drops players onto a distant alien world where an ancient structure has driven humanity into violent madness. As self-proclaimed prophets of the mysterious Monolith, players command loyal followers and battle competing shamans, each convinced they alone speak for the bloodthirsty relic.
“We’re so excited to finally show The Monolith off to gamers,” said Plaid Hat Games CEO Colby Dauch. “We fell in love with this game the first time we played it and have worked hard to ensure this title is the premium experience it deserves. Every choice will be tense and exciting, creating memorable moments that players will be talking about long after the game ends.”
Gameplay centers on tactical movement, brutal combat, and upgrading each shaman with powerful new abilities while building an army capable of eliminating rival factions. The game also features an extensive collection of components, including highly detailed miniatures of warriors, shamans, buildings, the towering Monolith itself, and even collectible human hearts. Additional premium components include a large game board and double-layered player boards for tracking forces, upgrades, and actions.

Plaid Hat Games is best known for acclaimed titles including Summoner Wars and Dead of Winter. The publisher also recently announced that the world of Summoner Wars will expand later this year with an original comic book series.
The Monolith is available now through Kickstarter, where backers can also secure campaign-exclusive rewards and preorder the game.
