X-Men and Fantastic Four face disaster as ‘DNX’ escalates in October’s Marvel comics

The stakes of DNX continue to rise this October as the X-Men battle to prevent a catastrophic future, the Fantastic Four lose their memories, and Psylocke embarks on a mission that could change everything.

Things are spiraling out of control for both the X-Men and the Fantastic Four this October as Marvel’s DNX crossover reaches a critical turning point. With 3K’s plans accelerating and the threat of the X-Virus looming larger than ever, heroes across multiple titles find themselves pushed to their limits, whether they’re battling a future apocalypse, defending mutantkind’s last refuge, or simply trying to remember who they are. The event kicks off on September 2nd.

At the center of the chaos is DNX #3, where Cyclops and the X-Men continue their desperate fight against 3K above Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four race against time while grappling with a devastating loss of identity and control over their powers. Elsewhere, X-Men turns its attention to more personal stories that remain deeply connected to the larger event, with John Greycrow forced into an unexpected role as defender and Psylocke confronting difficult questions about life, death, and the choices that define us.

“In all the high drama and high action of DNX, we’re also taking the time to zoom in on more personal moments, finding time to explore slightly smaller stories taking place at the same time as the big event,” explained DNX and X-Men writer Jed MacKay. “X-Men #39 sees John Greycrow, resolutely NOT an X-Man, having to step up, while #40 explores Psylocke’s attitudes towards life and death, and when to make the choice between them. These both tie into the larger themes of the DNX event and move forward story threads that have been brewing for some time!”

Over in Fantastic Four, writer Ryan North promises a conclusion that serves both the larger crossover and the team’s own unique brand of adventure.

“This is a really fun conclusion to a two-parter which, while obviously acting as an important part of DNX, also stands on its own as a Fantastic Four story for everyone else,” North said. “I get to bring the FF to some places they don’t normally go, both physically and emotionally, while at the same time saving the X-Men and the world. Jed has been a delight to work with, and we have commiserated over the challenge of writing Beast and Mr. Fantastic in the same room. It’s hard enough writing one smart guy, but two? There should only be one smart guy in every universe.”
