One of comics’ most unexpected crossovers is officially on the way. Dynamite Entertainment, Archie Comics, and STUDIOCANAL have announced Archie vs. The Terminator, a five-issue miniseries launching this October that throws Riverdale into the path of Skynet’s deadliest assassin.
The series begins when a teenage John Connor enrolls at Riverdale High. It doesn’t take long before the Terminator tracks him down, putting Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, and the rest of the gang in the middle of a deadly conflict that could reshape the future.
Writing the series is Rory McConville, whose recent work on The Terminator: Metal proved he knows how to balance action, suspense, and science fiction.
“Archie crossovers hold a very special place in comics, so I’m thrilled to be writing the gang’s first (maybe last?!) encounter with The Terminator,” McConville said. “Enrolling John Connor at Riverdale High felt like the perfect way to bring these two iconic franchises together and I can’t wait for readers to see what we have in store.”

Handling interior art is the father-daughter team of Steven Butler and Lily Butler. Steven Butler is well known for his work on Spider-Man during the 1990s and for years of contributions to Archie, particularly Sonic the Hedgehog. This marks another collaboration between the pair, who will combine Riverdale’s classic style with the relentless menace of the Terminator.
“When I got the invite to draw the Archie vs. The Terminator mini-series, I was deeply honored and excited at the same time,” Steven Butler said. “I’ve always loved the Archie stories that throw the gang into impossible situations, and this gives us the chance to tell exactly that kind of story. The icing on the cake is getting to work with my daughter Lily.”
Lily Butler added, “This is my first project with Dynamite and my first full miniseries. I’m excited to work with characters I’ve loved for years alongside ones that are completely new to me. I think we’re putting together something really special.”
Each issue will feature covers by Francesco Francavilla, Robert Hack, Björn Barends, Bill Galvan, and more. Issue #1 will also be available in a mystery blind bag edition containing randomly packed limited variants.
The crossover continues the growing partnership between Dynamite Entertainment and Archie Comics following the success of Archie x Army of Darkness, with more collaborative projects expected in the future.
