Billy Dee Williams will reprise role as Lando Calrissian in ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

Lando returns to a galaxy far, far away.

The world was reminded of Lando Calrissian’s awesomeness when Donald Glover played a young version of the character in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Now, it appears we’ll see what Lando’s been up to since the events of Return of the Jedi, as Billy Dee Williams is set to reprise the role in ‘Episode IX’.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the story earlier today, noting that talk about Williams joining the still-untitled third entry in Disney’s Star Wars sequel trilogy increased recently when Williams canceled an upcoming convention appearance citing a “conflict with a movie schedule.”

Details about ‘Episode IX’s storyline are still sparse, but another familiar face from the hallowed original trilogy will be sure to delight longtime fans of the saga.

‘Episode IX’ is set to release December 20, 2019 in theaters. It is being directed by JJ Abrams and will star Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver.
