For the second year in a row, the best pro wrestler in the world doesn’t work for WWE, according to Pro Wrestling Illustrated. The wrestling magazine has been releasing their list of the 500 best wrestlers in the world every year since 1991, and recently announced they will be doing the Female 100 starting this year as well.
Atop this year’s list is none other than Kenny Omega, which should come as no surprise to anybody who has seen nearly any of his matches throughout the past calendar year. Perhaps more surprisingly as some other names — and omissions — on the top ten list: The Miz makes it, for instance, while Daniel Bryan does not. That is almost certainly due to the fact that Bryan was only an active wrestler for three out of the 12 months (it covers July 31, 2017 to June 30, 2018), but still, that’s some fuel to the feud if I’ve ever heard any.
Big names like Bobby Roode, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Kevin Owens have dropped out of the top 10 since last year’s list. To check out the full list, subscribe to Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
