The Shield is reuniting at WWE Fastlane, but will it be the last time?

Roman Reigns’ welcome back tour begins with a reunited Shield, but is this truly Ambrose’s last hurrah?

The Shield is reuniting for one final time* at Fastlane.

After triumphantly announcing that his Leukemia was in remission last Monday night, Roman Reigns is starting his welcome back tour by teaming up with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose this Sunday at WWE Fastlane – reforming The Shield for one final time*.

Note the asterisk. This present Shield reunion is being billed as one final time as it has been announced that Dean Ambrose will not be renewing his contract with WWE and will be leaving the company in the near future. This is a rather curious promotion tactic by WWE as they often keep hush-hush when it comes to contract statuses and only announce releases/ departures once contracts have formally expired. Ambrose’s contract status, however, was announced several weeks ago and is now being actively used in storylines. Ambrose may very well be leaving or at least had the intent to several weeks ago but this current development shellacs the whole situation with doubt.

They’ll be squaring off against Raw‘s resident villainous foils: Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin. It’s a natural match-up considering that Corbin and his business casual attire have been constant thorn in The Shield’s side since this past summer, McIntyre has been bragging about how he was the man who “broke The Shield,” and Bobby Lashley was the one who pried the Intercontinental Championship from Rollins and Ambrose. And yes, it’s even more natural to assume that this match will end with a spear to Corbin and someone getting a triple bomb through the table.

The match itself is sure to be a highlight addition to Fastlane and we can only hope it’s not truly the end of Ambrose’s tenure in the WWE.
