DC Universe’s first full Swamp Thing trailer is here, and its gruesome

The new series premiers Friday May 31.

The first full length trailer for Swamp Thing, DC Universe’s upcoming live-action horror series, has arrived.

The trailer’s release comes just in time to get fans psyched up for the series premier this Friday, May 31. In it fans will witness the small town of Houma, Louisiana, descend into chaos when a strange and deadly swamp-borne virus begins to spread among the townsfolk.

Doctor Abby Arcane has been sent by the CDC to Houma, which also happens to be her hometown, to investigate the deadly virus. It’s not long before Abby comes to realize that she’s dealing with a virus that’s anything but normal, and she quickly forms a bond with local scientist Alec Holland during their investigation of the deadly pathogen.

After Alec tragically passes away, Abby continues to discover more disturbing mysteries surrounding the local swamp, and eventually comes to suspect that Alec may not be dead after all. See the full trailer below.

While Swamp Thing will be released exclusively on DC Universe, it will not exist in the same universe as DC’s other live-action superhero series, Titans and Doom Patrol.

Len Wiseman (Sleepy Hollow) will be directing the pilot episode, as well as executive producing alongside Aquaman’s James Wan and Wan’s production company, Atomic Monster Productions. Gary Dauberman (It), and Mark Verheiden of Netflix’s Daredevil, are wearing the hats of executive producers, series showrunners, and co-writers.

Leading the cast is Derek Mears as Swamp Thing and Andy Bean as Alec Holland, along with Leonardo Nam as Harlan Edwards, Crystal Reed as Dr. Abigail Arcane, Jennifer Beal as Sheriff Lucilia Cable, Ian Ziering as Blue Devil, Kevin Durand as Jason Woodrue / The Floronic Man, Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Virginia Madsen as Maria Sunderland, Will Patton as Avery Sunderland, and Henderson Wade as Matt Cable.

Swamp Thing premiers Friday May 31 on the DC Universe streaming service.
