Netflix’s The Witcher reveals Geralt’s very good horse Roach

First look at Geralt’s trusty steed.

Earlier this month we got our first look at photographs of the cast for Netflix’s upcoming live-action series — The Witcher — but there was one notable absence: Geralt’s very good horse Roach.

Series lead Henry Cavill remedied that mistake today by releasing a photograph of himself in costume atop his trusty stead, the legendary Roach.

“The road to San Diego is long,” said Cavill. “The good news is, on her worst day, Roach beats the company of Men, Elves, Gnomes and even Dwarves. She’s not always easy, but she knows more than most and cares just enough to be the only kind of company worth enjoying.”

The Witcher series is is based on the best-selling fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski and takes place 20 years before the popular video game series. It first began as a series of short stories published in Polish, which have since been translated to numerous languages, including English. The latest novel Season of Storms, was released in the US in March of 2018.

Roach has been a staple for every Witcher book and video game, and fans have been asking about the horse since the series was first announced. After the first pictures for the series were revealed and Roach wasn’t included fans got rather vocal about the horse. If that doesn’t display how passionate fans are for this series, I don’t know what will.

We don’t have an official release date for the series just yet, but Netflix has confirmed it will arrive sometime this fall. With Cavill confirming his appearance at San Diego Comic Con this weekend, it’s an near certainty that a release date and trailer will be amidst us soon.
